In December 2012 each of the eight institutions participating
in the project made booklets as well as multimedia presentations on what people
eat on some special days typical of their own countries. Afterwards the works were
sent to all the other partner schools to be used during classes.
The brochures and PowerPoint presentations prepared by
the pupils of Leżajsk Primary School No. 2 refer to the Polish culinary
traditions connected with Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Shrove Thursday and
Easter.
The ppt presentations made in the Leżajsk school – Polish food on special days, Some traditional dishes the Poles eat on special days - version 1, Some traditional dishes the Poles eat on special days - version 2 – have been
placed on slideshare.net.
While carrying out the task the pupils made use of
various sources on the topic (books, the internet, interviews with the workers
of an ethnographic museum), getting to know some aspects of the Polish cultural
heritage in that way. They also developed their design, ICT and language
skills.
All the materials received from the partner schools
were used as teaching aids, mostly during Citizenship and English lessons,
contributing to deepening the pupils’ knowledge about other cultures and
improving their command of foreign languages. The booklets from abroad were put
on a school display to be seen by the teachers, the pupils and their parents.
